From recycling exhibitions in Benoni to clean-up events in Evaton, Petco is always on the go, showing how recycling can make a real difference, both economically and environmentally.

Recently, we were invited to AECI’s Social Responsibility Champions workshop at Oliver’s Village in Benoni, where we explained the recycling process and encouraged participants to see new value in the items they normally discard. In Evaton, south west of Johannesburg, we rolled up our sleeves and led a clean-up and recycling workshop, sharing practical waste-management steps that create local opportunities.

As always, our aim is to combine demonstration, education and action.

In Evaton, Petco teamed up with Qoqa Community Projects, Earth Life Organisation, Rural Women’s Assembly and Sizakheni Community Projects, leading a community clean-up and practical workshop on recycling.

Volunteers and residents learned about collecting, sorting, and other basic recycling practices, and discovered how post-consumer packaging materials can be traded at local buy-back centres to feed recycling enterprises.

With collaborations like these, we’re building practical pathways from waste to value, inspiring other communities to follow suit.
