Collaborating with MetPac-SA and Plant the Seed, Petco is excited to be involved in an innovative new awareness campaign that strives to educate and inspire SA’s youth through an eight-part series of short videos.
Petco helped with the development of the scripts for ‘The Waste Hierarchy’, ‘Separation at Source’ (S@S), and also co-sponsored production of the ‘Plastic Recycling’ episode. Each one acts as the essential explainer video – in three minutes or less!
The first four episodes are out now, with the second half of the series still in the pipeline. If you have a few minutes to spare, click the link below.
Our main objective with this collaboration is to empower South Africans, and particularly our young generation, to become passionate stewards of their environments and to help bridge the knowledge gap surrounding recycling and waste management.
Whether you’re a student, teacher, concerned citizen, or business leader, these videos explore effective collection and recycling practices and show how we can all contribute to a more sustainable future.
The Waste Hierarchy
In this video the waste hierarchy is explored and it highlights the fundamental hierarchy of waste management.
Understanding the waste hierarchy is key to making informed decisions about responsible waste disposal at home, work, school or on the go. We also look at ways to prioritise actions to refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, and recover waste materials in your daily life.
Separation at Source
Separation at source is the first big step in any sustainable recycling journey. This video delves into the value of recyclable materials while providing guidance on efficiently sorting waste from valuable recyclable packaging. We further aim to simplify the recycling process, empowering you and your community to adopt more effective and sustainable practices.
Plastic Recycling
In this video, the importance of recycling and how we all can play our part is explored. We also learn some interesting facts about PET plastic, examine the recycling process for plastic, and discover easy ways to use and properly dispose of recyclable plastic packaging.
It is Petco’s hope that these videos will inspire and embolden viewers to become active participants in the circular economy, thereby helping to create a blueprint for a better tomorrow.
